An impressive 19 players from this year’s Flint City Bucks will compete in the NCAA Division I postseason tournament — representing six schools.
Three of their teams qualified as conference champions, while another three earned at-large bids. Three, ranked among the top 16 seeds, will have first-round byes and start tourney play Sunday, November 24th. The rest of the 48-team field will kick off Thursday, November 21st.
After a second-place finish in the Big Ten tournament, the Wolverines will host the winner of Thursday’s match between Notre Dame and Wright State University — which also features three Flint City players.
Sunday’s second-round tilt kicks off at 1 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
Michigan’s squad features five Bucks:
Qualifying as Horizon League champions, the Raiders will travel to Notre Dame for their first-round matchup Thursday. The winner will advance to play No. 13 Michigan — and its five Flint City men — on Sunday in Ann Arbor.
Wright State’s squad features three Bucks:
The Bulldogs will host West Virginia on Thursday, with the winner advancing to play Sunday at No. 11 Marshall University — which has three Flint City players of its own.
Butler’s squad features five Bucks:
Qualifying as Conference USA champions, the Herd will host the winner of Thursday’s match between West Virginia and Butler University — which features five Flint City players.
Marshall’s squad features three Bucks:
The Demon Deacons will host the winner of Thursday’s match between Iona and Maryland.
Wake Forest’s squad features two Bucks:
Qualifying as Atlantic 10 champions, the Rams will travel to Syracuse for their first-round matchup Thursday. The winner will advance to play Sunday at No. 16 St. John’s.
Rhode Island’s squad includes Charlie Booth (redshirt senior, def.).
