COVID-19 pandemic leads to cancelation of LUFC's USL League Two season

These are unprecedented times as the world faces a challenging health crisis with COVID-19. We appreciate your patience as we have worked with league partners, fellow clubs, and local stakeholders to study the recommendations of the world’s leading health experts to understand the implications of this global pandemic and their ramifications on the 2020 season.

As many of you know, we had big plans for 2020 as we eagerly looked forward to inaugurating the newly redeveloped Civic Park with the stands packed full of our faithful Reds supporters, the Red Aces chanting, drumming, and letting off red smoke into the warm Eugene evening from behind the south goal.

At this time, however, the health and well-being of everyone in our community – supporters, staff members, players, coaches, business partners, and host families – must come first. We have thus made the difficult decision to withdraw from the 2020 USL League Two season.

The LUFC staff have worked so hard these previous months to assemble the most promising group of players in our history, and we were so eager to introduce them to you. We were excited to bring back a formidable core from the 2019 squad that just missed out on the playoffs and add a host of D1 players from top schools as well as hungry, talented players from all around the country. We are bitterly disappointed about this turn of events, for the fans, for the players, and for the community.

We hope that everyone can keep this in perspective, as it relates to the greater good of the community, and that we all do our parts to look after one another and encourage the idea of social distancing as much as possible. Only together can we get through these trying times and come out stronger for it. Be well, be careful, stay healthy, look after each other, and stay proudly Red.
