FCB is 3-0 in postseason exhibition series, outscoring opponents 18-5

The Flint City Bucks host Rebels FC Saturday evening, Sept. 11, in the club’s ongoing series of friendly matches at Kettering’s iconic Atwood Stadium on First Responders Night, observing the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

All first responders and their family members will receive complimentary admission courtesy of Premier Security Solutions, Dort Financial Credit Union, The Genesee Group, PFCU, HAP, Dr. Bobby Mukkamala, Landaal Packaging, Mott Community College and Koegel Meats.

The Bucks enter the encounter 3-0 in the five-game exhibition series at historic Atwood Stadium, having throttled Detroit United FC 6-1 in the club’s Annual Pink Night Aug. 21 where players wore hot pink jerseys that were auctioned off after the match to raise money for Hurley Hospital Foundation’s Breast Cancer Navigation Program right here in Flint.

Amadou Cisse netted a hat trick to raise his goal total to 11 in all competitions this season while TJ Ifarutori slotted home a goal and two assists as Flint, aside from conceding a late first-half strike by Robert Berisha, dominated the United Premier Soccer League side.

Yuri Farkas also scored for the Bucks, finding the back of the net three times in only his second game since returning from Brazil. Stalwart defender Elliott Bentley, who like Farkas was a member of Flint’s 2019 national championship team, assisted on a goal.

Metro Detroit-based Rebels FC is competing in the UPSL Midwest Conference East Premier Division this fall. Rebels FC will be looking to atone for a 9-2 demolition at the hands of the Bucks July 24 on Fan Appreciation Night at Atwood.

In the last meeting, Flint’s 2019 national championship hero Ayuk Tambe scored twice in his heralded return after a six-month recovery from a ruptured Achilles. Tambe converted from the penalty spot as the Bucks downed Reading United AC 1-0 at Atwood for the club’s fourth national title in front of 7,200 spectators.

Match time is 7:30 pm Saturday, September 11th at historic Atwood Stadium.  Gates open at 6:30 pm.  Tickets are $5 for kids 12-under, $10 for adults and $15 for VIP reserved.  All first responders and family members will receive complimentary admission.  Match tickets may be purchased in advance at www.ticketmaster.com, Flint Prints in the Ferris Wheel downtown or on match day at the stadium gates.  Watch live on Mid Michigan’s CW46 or online via the Bucks website, Twitter page or YouTube channel.
