Flint, Mich. — The Flint City Bucks have re-signed striker Josemir Gomez for the upcoming USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.

“I’m very excited and thankful to return to the Bucks and play in Kettering’s Atwood Stadium,” Gomez said. We’ve got some unfinished business. I can’t wait to play with big-time players and for a great team with history in USL2. I’m looking forward to winning the regular season and going all the way to the national championship.”

Gomez scored five goals in his first four matches with Flint City in 2023, leading an offensive unit that put up 10 tallies en route to a 4-0-0 start. He was later injured.

“He’s a player that works hard to be in the right spot around the goal,” said Bucks head coach Paul Doroh. “Josemir is very good in the air. His confidence and willingness to take risks in the final third, combined with his goal-scoring ability, makes him a constant threat. I’m very happy he’s decided to re-sign. If he can put together a full season in 2024 like the way he started off in 2023, we can expect big things from him!”

Returning to the pitch this past fall, Gomez played every match in his sophomore year at IUPUI. He tied for the team lead with seven goals, also assisting twice. Six of his goals came in tight games — decided by one goal or less — with two being match-winners.

After the season, Gomez was named to the Horizon League first and all-tournament teams, as well as the United Soccer Coaches north regional third team. As a freshman, the Indianapolis native was Horizon League Freshman of the Year, in addition to being a first-team honoree. He had nine goals and three assists.
