Schinieder Mimy returns to Flint City to bolster the back line

The Flint City Bucks have re-signed veteran defender Schinieder Mimy for the upcoming USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.

“I love Flint and Bucks fans,” Mimy said. “They have always been there for us. I love you guys, and your support has been unreal. We have unfinished business this summer, and we will accomplish greater things. Our goal is the national championship — period.”

Mimy debuted for the Bucks in 2022. After not appearing in a USL2 match until July, he shot up the depth chart and eventually started all four postseason matches. In 2023, he was Flint City’s only player to appear on all 16 league matchday rosters. He made 11 starts.

“Mimy is a player that has truly earned his spot,” said Bucks head coach Paul Doroh. “It was disappointing for him — and for us — that he exited the national semifinal game early on an injury last summer, but his return means a lot to the strength of our back line.

“He’s a quality defender who adds another dimension to our attack. Mimy is top-class on and off the field. He’s humble and a fan-favorite. He’s the kind of guy that places huge demands on himself and still finds a way to get the best out of the players around him. His example and leadership are immeasurable. I cannot wait to welcome him back.”

A senior at Oral Roberts University this past fall, Mimy started 13 matches and played 820 minutes. The Golden Eagles outscored opponents 35-11 in games where Mimy featured. After the season, he was named to the Summit League second team.

His junior year, primarily at left back, he contributed six assists to help Oral Roberts claim the Summit League regular-season title.
