The Flint City Bucks have re-signed midfielder Brock Pickett for the upcoming USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.

“I’m extremely excited about joining the Bucks this season,” he said. “I look forward to spending time within the community and experiencing the atmosphere created by the fans. After being so close last year, I want to bring back a national championship to the city.”

First joining the Bucks in 2023, Pickett made no league appearances until July. He proceeded to start eight consecutive matches, including every postseason game.

“Brock’s willingness to persevere earned him a lot of respect from his teammates and the coaching staff,” said Bucks head coach Paul Doroh. “He was not an immediate starter for the Bucks last summer, but he continued to work hard and prove himself throughout the season. When he was given his opportunity, he took it and ran with it.”

In the Central Conference semifinal in Fort Wayne, the Wright State University junior blasted the game-winning goal past national No. 1 seed Chicago City SC.

“His ability to break up the opponent’s attack in midfield earned him a starting and indispensable role down the stretch of the regular season and throughout the USL2 playoffs,” Doroh said of the midfielder. “In addition to his defending ability, Brock proved he was able to challenge back lines with accurate long balls. Brock scored some key and timely goals as well. I have a lot of respect for what Brock accomplished last season, and I expect that he’ll pick up right where he left off. I’m really glad that we’re getting Brock back in 2024.”

This past fall at Wright State, Pickett played 16 matches, scoring twice. The native of Bay Village, Ohio, was named to the Horizon League All Academic Team.

Pickett started 16 matches for the Raiders as a sophomore in 2022. He contributed a goal and an assist, earning a spot on the Horizon League second team.
